Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer | MBA, BSc (Physics)
 
Managing Director since 11 October 2004.  Former Managing Director of Thales Air Traffic Management (Australia) and Regional Director Asia, and former Director of Business Development for ADI Limited (now Thales).  Twenty years' experience in systems integration and development, including six years as General Manager of ADI's software and systems business, and ten years with Vipac Engineers and Scientists.  Companion of Engineers Australia and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ross MiltonRoss Milton

Deputy Chief Executive Officer | BE, FIEAust, CPEng 
 
Mr Milton first became involved with the Australian submarine project in 1984 and participated in the negotiation of the shareholder arrangements leading to the establishment of ASC in 1985.  His current responsibilities include commercial negotiations, government liaison, as well as the corporate assurance and compliance functions.  Prior to joining ASC, Mr Milton was employed for 16 years with Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (CBI) variously as a field engineer, design engineer and in a commercial contracting capacity.

John GallacherJohn Gallacher
Chief Executive Officer – ASC Shipbuilding
 
Mr Gallacher joined ASC in 2004 to lead ASC’s surface shipbuilding business.  He is responsible for ASC’s shipbuilding involvement in the Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyer Program. Previously, Mr Gallacher was the Managing Director of the Australian businesses of the Stork Group, a Netherlands-based technology company.

Tony KuhlmannTony Kuhlmann

Mr Kuhlmann joined ASC in 2002 and is the head of the Commercial and Legal department with responsibility for contracts, insurance, risk, legal, communications and corporate governance.  Previously, Mr Kuhlmann was a partner at Finlaysons, a leading Adelaide commercial law firm, where he practised as a commercial lawyer for 12 years.



 
Vladimir MalcikVladimir Malcik 
Chief Financial Officer | MBA, Grad. Dip (Finance), B.Bus, FCPA 
 
Mr Malcik was appointed Chief Financial Officer in July 2005.  Before joining ASC, Mr Malcik held roles within a number of high profile companies, including Lend Lease/Retirement By Design, Hilton Hotels Corporation and Suncorp.




 
Stuart WhileyStuart Whiley 
General Manager – Submarines | BSc, FIE Aust, CPEng, MAIPM MPD
 
Mr Whiley joined ASC in 1989 and is currently responsible for production, project management and procurement activities relating to all in-service submarine work in South Australia and Western Australia.  He has more than 25 years of engineering experience in the Australian and United Kingdom naval defence industries.


 
 
Jack AtkinsonJack Atkinson 
General Manager – Design and Engineering | BE, MEngSci, FIAust, CPEng
 
Mr Atkinson has been with ASC for 16 years and is the head of the Design and Engineering department, with responsibility for the oversight and management of ASC’s engineering organisation.  Mr Atkinson has over 32 years of engineering experience within the defence industry having previously worked for the Department of Defence.



 
Brian ArcherBrian Archer
General Manager – Human Resources | Dip (Education)
 
Mr Archer was appointed as the head of ASC’s Human Resources department in September 2005.  Mr Archer came to ASC with strong human resources (HR) and industrial relations (IR) experience in Australia and the United States.  He has worked in senior HR/IR roles for a number of high profile companies, including Pratt Industries (US), Visy Paper and Tenix.

Mike PoynterMike Poynter
General Manager – Western Australia Operations | BEng, FIEAust
 
Mr Poynter joined ASC in 1988, and as the head of ASC's Western Australian operations, is responsible for defect investigation, maintenance and repair on submarine systems, the Submarine Training School and the development of ASC's new facility at Henderson.  Prior to joining ASC he worked in the construction and oilfield industries, and most recently held the position of Submarine Engineering Manager within ASC’s Design and Engineering group.



 
Mark GobellMark Gobell
General Manager – South Australia Operations | BTechMechEng, GradIEAust
 
Mr Gobell joined ASC in 1991 and was appointed Works Manager in 2003 where he is responsible for all production and maintenance activities at ASC's Osborne submarine facility.  Mr Gobell has substantial experience in submarine component manufacture, heavy engineering and mechanical services having worked for ASC Engineering and T.O’Connor and Sons Pty Ltd prior to ASC.

Craig VandepeerCraig Vandepeer
General Manager - Quality and Service Assurance | Dip (AppSc, Maritime Studies, HR), Grad Dip (Military Communications), MAIPM MPD
 
Mr Vandepeer joined ASC in 2003, and is currently responsible for the effective implementation of ASC’s quality management system and management of the submarine customer’s contractual/business relationship.  Previously, he was Through-Life Support Coordination Manager for the Collins Class submarines, and has worked in similar Defence service contract management roles for Boeing Australia after beginning his career as a seaman officer in the Royal Australian Navy.

Robert LemoniusRobert Lemonius
General Manager – ASC Shipbuilding | Commonwealth Centenary Medal 2003
 
Mr Lemonius joined ASC in 1990 and manages all day-to-day operational activities within ASC Shipbuilding, including the development of ASC's shipbuilding facilities at Osborne, South Australia.  Previously he was ASC's General Manager - Western Australia Operations, and he has over 40 years of experience in the submarine and shipbuilding industry, including management positions with Cockatoo Dockyard before joining ASC.

Rolf PolakRolf Polak
Executive Manager – Change and Improvement | BE (Hons), BSc, FIEAust CPEng, MAIPM MPD
 
Mr Polak joined ASC in 2005, and is responsible for change management activities within the company, as well as overseeing cultural change and company-wide business change.  He has over 26 years experience in the defence and industrial sectors, including a range of engineering and management roles for ADI and CSC Australia.
