Mr Ludlam was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASC in January 2010. Prior to joining ASC, Mr Ludlam spent 34 years at Rolls Royce where he held a number of senior roles within the company, including President – Submarines UK.
Tony Kuhlmann
General Manager – Corporate and Commercial | General Counsel | Company Secretary | BA, LLB, GDLP, MAICD
Mr Kuhlmann joined ASC in 2002. Responsibilities include: legal; communications; risk and insurance; technology control; configuration management; security; estimating; commercial and supply chain. Mr Kuhlmann was a partner at Finlaysons, a leading Adelaide commercial law firm, where he practised as a commercial lawyer for 12 years.
Vladimir Malcik General Manager – Finance | MBA, Grad. Dip (Finance), B.Bus, FCPA
Mr Malcik joined ASC in 2005. Responsibilities include: finance; administration; tax; treasury; business and information systems; facilities; earned value management system. Mr Malcik previously held roles within a number of high-profile companies, including Lend Lease/Retirement By Design, Hilton Hotels Corporation and Suncorp.
Brian Archer
General Manager – Human Resources

Mr Archer joined ASC in 2005. Responsibilities include: recruitment; payroll; employee relations; OH&S; graduates; training. Mr Archer came to ASC with strong human resources (HR) and industrial relations (IR) experience in Australia and the United States. He has worked in senior HR/IR roles for a number of high-profile companies, including Pratt Industries (US), Visy Paper and Tenix.
Andrew Keough CSCGeneral Manager – Business Improvement and Transformation | MBA, BSc
Mr Keough joined ASC in 2009. Responsibilities include: lean principles; process improvement; business process engineering. Mr Keough served in the Royal Australian Navy for 22 years, which included command of HMAS Waller (1999-2000) and HMAS Sheean (2004-2005).
Jack Atkinson General Manager – Engineering | BE, MEngSci, FIAust, CPEng
Mr Atkinson joined ASC in 1994. Responsibilities include: design; production engineering; systems engineering; software engineering; logistics engineering; safety engineering; research and development; test and evaluation; certification and technical regulation; knowledge management. Mr Atkinson has over 32 years of engineering experience within the defence industry having previously worked for the Department of Defence.
Simon Tildesley General Manager – Quality l MSc BSc(Hons) CEng MIMechE
Mr Tildesley joined ASC in 2010. Responsibilities include: all aspects of quality across the organisation, including quality assurance, quality engineering, production quality control, ASC’s corporate management systems, as well as quality, safety and software assurance audits. Mr Tildesley has over twenty years experience in a range of industrial sectors, including over 15 years in quality management and 10 years in senior quality assurance management roles.
Stuart Whiley General Manager – Collins Class Submarine Project | BSc, FIE Aust, CPEng, MAIPM MPD
Mr Whiley joined ASC in 1989. Responsibilities include: all aspects of the company’s support of the Collins Class submarines in South Australia and Western Australia. Mr Whiley has more than 25 years of engineering experience in the Australian and United Kingdom naval defence industries.
Paul GayGeneral Manager – Air Warfare Destroyer Project | BEng Mech (Hons), MEng Mgt, MIEAust CPEng, MAIPM RegPM
Mr Gay joined ASC at the end of July 2010. Responsibilities include: all aspects of project management and production as Shipbuilder for the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Project. Mr Gay brings significant experience to the role and has held senior positions with both the ANZAC Frigate and Project Protector programs. Most recently, he held the position of Platform Engineering Manager - LHD with BAE Systems' Marine Division in Williamstown, Victoria.
Hans WicklanderGeneral Manager - Deep Blue Tech | MSc, LicEng, FIEAust, CPEng
Mr Wicklander joined ASC in 2005. Responsibilities include: overseeing the operations of Deep Blue Tech, including concept design. Prior to joining ASC, Mr Wicklander served 23 years in the Royal Swedish Navy, where his roles included head of the Scandinavian Viking submarine program.
