Working in Australia![]()
Peter Webb
AWD ALLIANCE SYSTEM SAFETY LEAD Peter Webb came to Australia from the UK for the lifestyle – and now has a great job with us to match.
Peter came to Australia in October 2005 after a 15-year career with a British maritime defence consultancy working on a variety of UK warship and submarine projects.
After a short stint with key ASC supplier Weir Strachan and Henshaw, he joined us in August 2006 as Specialist Control Systems Engineer with the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Program before being appointed to his current role as the AWD Alliance System Safety Lead. This position sees Peter develop and implement a program to demonstrate the AWDs have an acceptable safety risk, and involves managing contributions from AWD ship designer Navantia, AWD Alliance partners and equipment suppliers. “I didn’t come to Australia specifically for the job with ASC – it was more a case of the job finding me,” Peter said. “My family and I moved to Adelaide for the relaxed lifestyle and the climate, and now I have a central role on one of the most exciting projects in the country: we’re very happy that we made the move!” |
