MECHANICAL FITTER

Andy Sudholz is living proof that you’re never too old to learn.

He began his career with us in 1992 as a rigger and scaffolder, moved to the newly-formed Tile Shop in 1993 and then, in 1994, at 39 years of age, he began his apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter.

“I reckon I was the oldest apprentice in the State,” said Andy.

“But the opportunity to learn new skills was there and I wanted to take it.”

Since then, Andy has also completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Regency TAFE and says he can’t imagine working anywhere else.

“ASC is a good company to work for,” said Andy.

“The work is really interesting – where else in Australia can you work on submarines?  I really enjoy what I do.”
