Techport Australia

ASC represents the South Australian Government's largest
facility located at Techport Australia - the nation's biggest naval
shipbuilding hub - a vibrant, internationally competitive shipbuilding and support capability.

Located just outside historic Port Adelaide (currently undergoing a $1.5 billion revitalisation), Techport Australia is only 15km from Adelaide's CBD and 9km from the city's international airport.

A new freeway and river crossing will connect the port to an international port, a rail head, other high technology and defence industry precincts and the Defence Science and Technology Organisation.

The state-of-the-art, purpose-built Techport Australia offers a wealth of opportunities for a wide range of maritime and defence-related businesses.

Techport Australia is underpinned by the South Australian Government's substantial investment in infrastructure, land and skills programs, and by the Australian Government's long term investment in ASC.

The South Australian Government has invested over $300 million in state-owned infrastructure at Techport Australia to support the delivery of the Royal Australian Navy's next generation $8 billion air warfare destroyers (AWDs) and attract other shipbuilding and repair opportunities.

Techport Australia features:

• Common user shipbuilding facilities comprising a massive ship lift (Australia's largest), transfer system and wharf;
• A 35+ hectare supplier precinct for subcontractors to establish operations on site, and develop strong and efficient supply chains; and
• A commercial and education precinct, including a Maritime Skills Centre, to provide trade and technical skills for the hub's users, and the high tech AWD Systems Centre, which brings together all of the engineering disciplines necessary to design, build and deliver the AWDs.

Common User Facility

The Techport Australia Common User Facility features world class shipbuilding infrastructure including a wharf, runway, dry berth, transfer system and Australia's largest ship lift.

The South Australian Government-owned and operated facility is spread over six hectares at the heart of the precinct, and will play at key role in assisting ASC to build the AWDs.

The Government of South Australia has invested over $260 million in the development of the Common User Facility, including planning, design and construction.
