ASC represents the South Australian Government's largest
facility located at
Techport Australia - Australia's largest naval
shipbuilding hub.
Located just outside historic Port Adelaide (currently undergoing a $1.5 billion revitalisation), Techport Australia is only 15km from Adelaide's CBD and 9km from the city's new international airport.
A new freeway and river crossing will connect the park to an international port, a rail head, other high technology and defence industry precincts and the Defence Science and Technology Organisation.
The
South Australian Government is investing $240 million dollars in state-owned infrastructure at Techport Australia, including:
- Australia’s largest ship lift, plus a new transfer system
and wharf;
- fully-protected harbour;
- deep channel port access;
- rail and road access to national network;
- 35 hectares of available land to suit the needs of virtually any business;
- a Maritime Skills Centre, which will provide trade and technical skills training to the hub's users; and
- the proposed future home of the Air Warfare Destroyer Systems Centre.
Techport Australia has been master planned to accommodate the present and future needs of business.
Besides allowing for future growth, the master plan also ensures the precinct is capable of supporting several concurrent shipbuilding programs and related industrial uses.
