A local South Australian submarine supplier will receive a $33 million revenue boost through a first-of-its-kind contract with
Collins Class submarine builder and maintainer ASC Pty Ltd.
With a projected saving in excess of $1.25 million to the Commonwealth Government, the unique multi-year agreement with
Weir, Strachan & Henshaw Australia (WS&H) will significantly reduce the risk associated with maintaining some of the submarines’ most highly technical systems.
ASC Managing Director
Greg Tunny said the agreement had an additional benefit of migrating valuable engineering knowledge from WS&H United Kingdom to Australia.
“ASC is fundamentally committed to increasing Australia’s self reliance in the design, build and maintenance of submarines,” he said.
“This long-term contract will ensure that dedicated personnel are on hand to support some of the submarines’ most important systems, while giving WS&H the confidence to further invest in their South Australian operations.”
WS&H are the first supplier ASC has contracted for a multi-year agreement under the Collins Class Submarine
Through-Life Support (TLS) Contract. TLS was established to provide maintenance support and enhance the capability of the Class.
