All systems go for Collins Class’ replacement combat system

2 February 2006

After twelve months, ASC Pty Ltd has completed all platform modification design work required to support the installation of the Collins Class' replacement combat system on HMAS Waller.

This milestone now paves the way for the finalisation of platform work to allow the replacement combat system to be installed on HMAS Waller while the submarine completes its routine full-cycle docking refurbishment.

Mr Greg Tunny, Managing Director of ASC, said the timeliness of this achievement is a credit to the skills, capability and dedication within ASC’s Design and Engineering group.

“Throughout the last year, over 36 internal and external design reviews were conducted to enable ASC to complete the platform modification design work by January 2006 – right on schedule,” Mr Tunny said.

“This outstanding achievement is a clear demonstration of ASC’s commitment to the replacement combat system and ability to deliver on schedule within tight timeframes.”

The next phase of the replacement combat system consists of systems integration activities at the test site, followed by transition of the complete system to the submarine during 2006.
