Today’s announcement of the purchase of the AEGIS Combat System for Australia’s Air Warfare Destroyers (AWD) signifies fundamental progress toward the development of the shipbuilding project, according to Mr Greg Tunny, Managing Director of ASC Pty Ltd.
“The AEGIS system is the world’s pre-eminent maritime air warfare system and is capable of detecting and defeating multiple hostile aircraft and missiles at ranges in excess of 150 kilometres,” said Mr Tunny.
