ASC Pty Ltd has welcomed today’s announcement of the appointment of Vice Admiral Chris Ritchie AO as the Chairman of the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Program’s Alliance Principals’ Council, which importantly completes the formation of the Council.
“Admiral Ritchie has been involved in some of Australia’s most complex and challenging naval defence programs,” Mr Prescott said.
“The AWD Program can only benefit from his extensive experience in large scale projects of this kind and I personally look forward to the opportunity to work with him on the AWD Alliance Principals’ Council.”
ASC Pty Ltd was selected as the shipbuilder for the AWD Program in May 2005. Three air warfare destroyers will be delivered by ASC in collaboration with the other AWD Alliance participants –
Defence Materiel Organisation and Raytheon Australia – and the ship designer.
