ASC Pty Ltd (formerly Australian Submarine Corporation) has today signed an agreement with
Engineers Australia to ensure all ASC engineers become chartered professionals in their field.
The agreement, which introduces a professional development program for ASC engineering staff, was signed by Engineers Australia National President Andrew Downing and ASC Managing Director
Greg Tunny at ASC’s Outer Harbor facility.
The agreement guarantees all technical staff will be rigorously trained in their lead up to chartered status and further reinforces ASC’s commitment to managing Australia’s largest naval high-end skilled repository.
According to Greg Tunny, while a program had already been in place for ASC’s
graduate employees, this agreement formalises professional development as a company policy.
“We believe that this program is essential to growing and maintaining the high calibre of engineering and technical skills within ASC,” said Mr Tunny.
“ASC is committed to engineering innovation and excellence, and since the company is responsible for maintaining the country’s most strategic defence assets, it is our duty to ensure all employees are at the height of their professional fields.”
ASC’s professional development program will immediately take effect and further supports the Commonwealth’s requirement that all technical documentation produced by subcontractors is signed off by a chartered professional.
