Today ASC Pty Ltd welcomed
Mr Greg Tunny as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Succeeding Mr Graeme Bulmer who has fulfilled the Acting Chief Executive Officer role since March this year, Mr Tunny commenced work this morning at ASC’s Outer Harbor facility, where he will be permanently based.
Mr Tunny joins ASC during a pivotal time as the company prepares to bid for
Royal Australian Navy surface combatant work, including the proposed
Air Warfare Destroyer project, following the award of a 25 year, $3.5 billion Through-Life Support Contract for the
Collins Class submarines.
In support of its role in future naval shipbuilding projects, the company launched last week its new name and corporate identity - ASC Pty Ltd.
According to
Mr John Prescott AC, Chairman of ASC, Mr Tunny is exceptionally well-qualified to lead ASC during this important growth stage.
“Mr Tunny brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to ASC, which has been developed in the management of complex systems engineering projects for the defence and aviation industries in Australia and overseas,” he said.
“The Australian Government has made clear its intent to privatise ASC and, in preparation for this, Mr Tunny will be working to fully establish the company’s capability in Australia’s naval shipbuilding and repair industry.”
Mr Tunny, the former Managing Director of Thales Air Traffic Management Australia and Regional Director Asia, was appointed following a world-wide executive search which commenced in February this year following the departure of Dr Stephen Gumley to head
Defence Materiel Organisation.
