Purpose
The purpose of ASC’s Environmental Policy is to formally describe ASC’s commitment to environmental best practice through all its activities, products, sites and operations. This document stipulates the principles and requirements that facilitate the control of environmental impacts identified through the organisational context and the agreed environmental objectives.
Scope
This policy applies to all ASC Pty Ltd (ASC) activities, employees, contractors and visitors at all ASC-managed sites to ensure the protection of the natural environment and the management of potential impacts associated with ASC’s activities, products, sites and operations.
Policy Statement
ASC is committed to the maintenance and continual improvement of an effective and efficient Environmental Management System (EMS) and practices that comply with government policy, environmental legislation, contractual requirements and stakeholder expectations. Senior management at ASC recognise the importance of ecologically sustainable development and are committed to enhancing ASC’s environmental performance through the application of best practice principles.
Policy Objectives
- Strategically implement policies and procedures to promote and deliver objectives relating to the mitigation of both direct and indirect environmental impacts and the need for continual improvement of the EMS.
- Ensure the lifecycle impacts of all aspects of ASC’s operations have been identified and mitigated where practical to maintain the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution.
- Identify the activities which have the potential to cause environmental harm and use a risk-based approach to implement controls in accordance with the ASC Risk Management Framework.
- Set specific, measurable and achievable targets to monitor and improve environmental and sustainability performance across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, standards and, where appropriate, best practice guidelines.
- Promote environmental awareness and socially responsible practices amongst ASC employees, contractors, visitors and business partners.
- Identify the effect ASC’s operations may have on external stakeholders, implement proactive strategies to mitigate potential impacts and strive to improve the health of the local natural environment.
