Building Australia’s next-generation submarines will be the country’s biggest ever industrial undertaking, and its success will depend on suppliers from every state and territory.

ASC and BAE Systems have taken the next step in engaging Australian industry for the SSN-AUKUS Build Program, meeting with businesses in Brisbane as part of the first in a series of national industry roadshows.

As Australia’s sovereign submarine build partners, we are working together to identify, develop and strengthen the industrial capability needed across the country to support the construction of Australia’s future conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines.

Australian industry has a strong track record of playing a critical role in delivering complex naval programs, including the build and sustainment of the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines and Hobart Class air warfare destroyers, and the ongoing Hunter Class frigate build. The SSN-AUKUS Build Program will draw on this depth of experience while creating new pathways for businesses with the skills and ambition to contribute to a program of national significance.

The roadshows will give potential suppliers a clearer understanding of the emerging opportunities, standards and long-term planning required to support the program. Further events will be held in the Hunter Valley, Melbourne and Hobart, building on the momentum of the inaugural AUKUS National Supply Chain Conferences held in Adelaide and Perth earlier this year.
