ASC’s Non-Executive Director Geoff Rohrsheim has been elevated to Deputy Chair and two new Non-Executive Directors with extensive industry experience have been appointed to ASC’s Board for three-year terms, by Finance Minister Simon Birmingham.
ASC’s Chairman Bruce Carter said he was pleased to announce the new appointments which will further strengthen the organisation’s expertise and focus during a period of growth.
Mr Rohrsheim joined the ASC Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2019, and now becomes Deputy Chair. He studied engineering at the Australian Defence Force Academy before serving in the Royal Australian Air Force as an Engineering Officer. Mr Rohrsheim has over 20 years’ experience in the information technology sector.
Leading business figures Julie Cooper and Denise Goldsworthy AO are joining the ASC board.
Ms Cooper is Chair of the South Australian Film Corporation and Nova Systems. She is also a Non-Executive Director of Credit Union South Australia, Helping Hand Aged Care, the National Board of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Adelaide Crows Foundation. Her international executive career spans roles in banking, brewing and defence.
Ms Goldsworthy is Founder of Alternate Futures, which connects research organisations, tech start-ups and industry to deliver solutions to problems. She has held executive and leadership roles at BHP Steel and Rio Tinto. Her Non-Executive Director roles include Chancellor at Edith Cowan University, Chair of Gascoyne Gateway and Navy Clearance Diver Trust and on the Boards of Western Power and Leichhardt Industrials.
Mr Carter said it is an important time for the Board as ASC advances work on the Collins Class submarine Life of Type Extension and Sovereign Shipbuilding Talent Pool.
“This is a time of growth and transition in Australia’s submarine industry as we build upon ASC’s proud history, and support the enhancement of our future capability,” Mr Carter said.
Ms Goldsworthy will join the Board in May. The other two changes have become effective.
