A self-confessed problem solver, apprentice Lina manifested working at ASC for months before landing her dream job and finding deeper meaning.
In Lina’s own words:
“I wanted to be a part of an electrical trade that worked towards a bigger purpose. I didn’t just want to be doing everyday electrical work. You’re doing something that has meaning behind it. You’re helping the country. It’s such a rewarding job when you fix something that’s going to go out to sea.”
“I like the theory behind electrical. It’s a lot more interesting. You have to use your initiative to work things out. We get to work on the biggest DC motor in the southern hemisphere plus we get to work on the submarines. It’s a super cool experience.”
Lina completed Year 12 and achieved a Certificate II in Business and a Certificate II in Electrotechnology before joining ASC as a first-year electrical apprentice at the start of 2022.
On track to become a fully qualified professional electrician at the start of 2026, Lina knows she’s fortunate to be undertaking her apprenticeship at ASC.
“An apprenticeship at ASC is very sought-after. I feel grateful that I can work on such complicated systems and for such a unique business. I’ve noticed I’ve taken attention to detail into other areas of my life like my hobbies. Just a real high-quality mindset – do it right the first time. ASC has taught me a lot about that.”
“I think you should sign up to ASC if you want a bit more purpose in your career, a bit more passion behind it and a good work environment. Plus the opportunity we get at ASC really helps you reach your full potential in the apprenticeship you’re doing.”
